OUR GOAL:
Canada’s history is not the history of a specific group of people – in fact, the history of Canada is a mosaic of shared stories, experiences and lives of many diverse peoples from around the world. In this event, we would like to see a manifestation of the cultural mosaic that is Canada through Fashion, and we would like to REJOICE in the cultural wealth and diversity of Canada and seek to promote a tolerant society that preserves these diverse Canadian values.
Rejoice is not just a fashion show, it is a space of resistance, a joint effort from our UBCO student body to fight bigotry, eradicate racism and ask people both on our UBCO campus/Kelowna community to think about their settler colonial relationship with this land and the Indigenous peoples of this land. Being diverse individuals, this process will look different for each and everyone one of us and Rejoice seeks to highlight these differences, and bring us together to stand in solidarity with issues that indigenous peoples face, people of colour and other marginalized members of society. Through fashion, dance performances, spoken word and other forms of art we hope to assert our selves, to be critical of dominant hegemonic structures, and reflect about own complicity with different issues that marginalized members of society face.
INN FROM THE COLD:

SILENT AUCTION:
We are going to be hosting a silent auction prior to the show so please don't forget to bring spare change for a worthy cause. The Rejoice planning committee has been working very hard to bring prizes in for the event. By entering, you stand a chance to win gift certificates and gift baskets!
Our goal is to raise at least $4000 and to fill all available seats…so help spread the word and come out for what promises to be a memorable and incredible night filled with fashion, music, and glamour!
